Dr. Timothy Altman Named as Endorsing Artist for Conn-Selmer

Conn-Selmer, Inc is pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy Altman is a new addition to its Artist Endorsement Roster for Selmer. Hundreds of professional musicians and instructors endorse instruments from Conn-Selmer, including instruments by Bach, Selmer, C.G. Conn, King, Leblanc, Ludwig/Musser, and others.

Dr. Altman is chair of the music department at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP).  He is also the Director of Bands, teaches conducting, instrumental music education courses, trumpet, and is the advisor of the collegiate MENC chapter.  His background includes teaching instrumental and general music at the elementary, middle school, high school, and university level in Virginia, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and North Carolina.  While teaching in Virginia, Altman’s high school band was recognized as a “Virginia Honor Band,” and his collegiate ensembles have performed at the North Carolina Music Educators conference.  Dr. Altman has also commissioned works for the UNCP Wind Ensemble by Erik Ewazen and James Sochinski.

Dr. Altman completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in trumpet performance at the University of Kentucky and holds degrees from Virginia Tech, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  Timothy remains active as a conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and trumpet performer, and performs with numerous orchestras, concert bands, brass bands, and jazz ensembles across the country and at international conferences. He is presently the principal trumpet for the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and has performed at the International Trumpet Guild conference and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic.  Altman’s recent international performances include concerts in Amman, Jordan and in London at the Royal College of Music.  Altman has also performed with Allen Vizzutti, Doc Severinsen, Bruce Hornsby, Al Jarreau, David Sanborn, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and Martha and The Vandellas.

“Timothy’s experiences speak well of his commitment to music education, and we are pleased to have him join our family of endorsing artists,” says Rebecca Weissman, artist relations coordinator at Conn-Selmer. “Endorsing artists are an integral, valuable part of our company and we appreciate their efforts in promoting music education across the nation on our behalf”.
